I feel that the 2 per country rule shouldn't apply for the top 6 qualifiers, that way you're actually competing against the best of the best, instead of who got in because the system excluded better athletes

I've got mixed feelings on this. On the one hand, 2 per country does prevent all medals going to the same country, so that is prob why it's done this way. But at the same time, if the point is to find the SPECIFIC athlete who is best on each apparatus, it seems silly to not allow athletes to compete who qualified. From what I understand though, America fought in favor of 2 per country, so we can't really complain now if that's true lol

The best and the highest scores should qualify regardless of how many athletes qualify from the same country..They work hard to compete on the biggest stages of their career and should be recognized and have the opportunity to showcase their skills.

It was the USA that supported this rule when Russia (USSR) and Romania dominated the sport, now that it no longer benefits the USA, do they want to change it again? Now you know what Romania felt at the time.

Very funny how so many in the comments saying the 2 per Country rule must be changed and allow gymnasts to compete based off qualification. It was the USA that lobbied for the same rule back then when the USSR and Romania dominated the sport of gymnastics. Now that the script has switched and the US is dominating, y'all wanna switch back to the old rules? SMH 🤦

Time to scap that 2 per country rule! You want the best to compete; not the best of each country. Time to change it up!

I think all five people should compete in every country and all five should compete in all around. I think qualifications should be eliminated.

Why?!
Because in 2000 Romania 🇷🇴 got the Olympic sweep podium with Raducan Amanar and Olaru and the FIG decided is too much.
This is the real answer!
Romania was so dominant that even the FIG tried to stop it!
Now when USA is dominant suddenly is job, FIG!

She's not competing because she didn't qualify for it(only top 2 competitors from a country make it).

I think it should be 3 people per country because you don't want to deny someone of the bronze. However you still want to have a full display of athlete around the world.

I still can’t over how excited I am for Italy. Such beautiful and fluid gymnastics, was phenomenal to see them so consistent. Also Jordan can absolutely be on the Podium for floor if she hits ❤

because Gymnasts are limited to two per country in individual all around and Apparatus finals so for ex in Vault finals the US high scorers are Jade Carey and Simone Biles and in the other Apparatuses its Simone Biles and Suni Lee based on scores take for example the winning average scores on Vault in 1984 Ecaterina Szabo 9.94 Gold Mary Lou Retton 9.93 Silver and Lavinia Agache 9.88 Bronze average scores on Floor ex were 9.99 gold 9.98 silver and 9.9 bronze Ecaterina Szabo Julianne McNamara and Mary Lou Retton and Ma Yahong of China & Julianne McNamara of the US tied for gold on uneven bars 9.98 and Mary Lou Retton won Bronze with an average score of 9.9 separated by .8 of a point or for example Floor exercise in 1992 had a three way tie for Bronze at 9.912 between Christina Bontas of Romania Titiana Gutsu of unified team and Shannon Miller of the US where as the bars finished less than .2 apart in Score for the medals Lu Li of China 10.0 Gold Titiana Gutsu of unified team 9.975 Silver and Shannon Miller of US 9.862 Bronze

I’m so sad for her. She’s wonderful. It’s the freaking Olympics so why wouldn’t you compete against the best?

DEI in action. Not merit. Sad. She worked so hard and DESERVES to compete. She deserves a platform to be the best she can be.
