As someone who's worked with kids all my life, I see Callum as having natural 'parent' instincts. He gets down to Lexi's eye level, acknowledges her concerns, and takes her by the hand to head to the hospital. Ben sees the sense of it and will follow. He also sees how effective Callum is with Lexi.

What is true here is that they really cannot break up (although it’s eastenders) and if they do not until Lexi is older because Lexi is really going to need Ben now and once she loses Lola she is going to need a constant in her life. And if Ben is always up to funny buisness and breaking up with Callum all the time. She is going to have some real trauma scars. Callum has shown himself to be a rock and I think he may even save her if Ben goes off the rails again.

And Lexi is very smart, it’s better to just tell her the truth as she already heard it, but try to tell her in a way more gradually and not stress her too much, at this point of the show, nobody knows for sure yet about Lola’s exact future yet although as audiences we know that Lola is exiting but the characters they don’t know so try to tell Lexi but keeps hope up, don’t worry her too much would be a better way😇😇🥺🥺

Ben is too immature & irresponsible to raise Lexi alone. He snaps at the child he doesn't got the temperament to raise her alone. He uses drugs remember. Lola also has complained many times Ben is irresponsible. For example, Ben is late with providing money that Lola needs for Lexi. I wonder if Callum can adopt Lexi? Callum is obviously better parent than Ben to raise Lexi.
