The scene where Helen was telling her children that those soldiers wouldn't hesitate to kill them hits really hard for me. Most parents try to hide those facts from their children. Helen was brutally honest with her children because she knew that they needed to understand the gravity of the situation and survive.

I really didn't feel like Helen was telling Violet she was disappointed in her. She says it's not her fault and it wasnt fair of her to ask so much of her, which, yeah, the kids were actively discouraged from using their powers. It seemed like more of an "I'm sorry, it's okay. But it can't happen again."

A lot of people say that the internet is ruining their childhood, but exposing some of the darker themes of our favorite shows and movies needs to become the norm.

Did you know that in the original version of the plane crash scene Helen was supposed to be flying with an old pilot friend of hers. When Violet failed to put a force field around the plane Helen wrapped herself around them and left. Her friend. Behind.
He died.
It’s actually why she was animated looking down at the plane sinking as she realizes that there is no way he could of survived that.

watching this as an adult I was SO invested in the like family drama and everything that I had zero regard for as a kid, that's what makes it a great movie, you can grow up with it!

I just wanna say that if Bob had a job where he actually helped people, he would have been waaaayyyy happier. That was why he was a hero. We only really saw him with the old woman but you could tell that turning her down really hurt him. Even then he tried helping where he could. He was just drained and sadly beat down from a job that made him miserable. Which is something too many people can relate to.

The “abort” scene, and mr incredible discovering what happened to the other heroes, remain moments of my childhood that I look back on with wide eyes. Every time I see the “abort” scene, my stomach drops. Every single hero dying in combat gave me chills. Helen’s voice actress truly captures the horror. She slowly transitions from Elastigirl, the collected superhero, to an absolutely terrified mother, knowing she and her children are likely about to die. The scene before Bob is captured gives such a sense of dread and horror, realizing that Bob is the only one who survived, and that Syndrome both can and will kill people without hesitation. Truly terrifying, and deeply chilling, both as a child, and as a near adult.

"Its psychotic they keep creating new ways to celebrate mediocrity"... this movie just said what I have been trying to say FOR YEARS. This movie put one of my most hated things into words and I never realized it. I should have listened more as a child.

Be thankful that Helen's friend who loaned her the plain didn't die because originally he was supposed to be her copilot and die in the explosion. They removed that scene.

I'm surprised he didn't mention the computer scene. Bob is goibg to find Syndrome's plans. But then, there's a tab labeled 'supers' which he clicks on. And he slowly realizes that all of his friends are now dead. Of course, he checks if Frozone and Elastigirl are okay, which shows how much he cares about them.

I think Syndrome saying, “I’ve outgrown you, ” perfectly encapsulates this entire scene. These poor kids are forced to deal with the realization that their parents aren’t invincible in the most brutal way possible. It’s that feeling when you acknowledge that your parents aren’t perfect turned up to eleven. This may be a very fantastical scene, but it’s grounded by a fear that’s pretty universal. That’s what makes this scene so fucking awesome.

In the first few minutes of the incredibles a man tries to commit Suicide and is angry when he is saved. This is one of the darkest Pixar movies probably ever. And that’s why I love it

It's even more dark if you look at the beginning in the wedding and later look at that scene with the dead superheroe list... the majority of the killed heroes were people Bob and Hellen knew... people they trusted with their secret identities, and they were all dead, and he was slowly figuring it out and why he hasn't heard from them finally hits. It's dark and at the same time insanely sad.

also, keep in mind that the kids were never supposed to be on the plane, the fact that they snuck and accidentally put themselves in danger just adds to the horror of the plane scene oh my-

The first time I noticed this movie was actually super dark was when bob was threatening to kill that woman, I was like “wait since when did this happen??”

I feel like one of the darkest moments would have to be when Bob learns about the fate of the other heroes. Because you think at first because he has superpower that there is a large gap between him and the villain, that he is the one in control, however as you learn about how many heroes that were defeated by the villain, that power gap slowly but surely becomes smaller and soon enough you soon realize that Bob was never in control and that he, and by extension his family, are well and are well and truly in danger. God I forget how great this film is.

Helen absolutely wasn't disappointed in Violet, she was expressing that She (Helen herself) was in the wrong for even asking Violet to do that. She was saying that it was beyond what Violet could do at the moment and it wasn't right of Helen to put that weight on her. If anything, Helen was proud Violet tried and disappointed in herself, most likely at least.

The scene where Bob is being suffocated genuinely terrified me as a kid. You don’t expect to see a protagonist get tortured in such a scary way, or even at all, as a kid.
