As we continue to celebrate the 32nd Anniversary of Cartoon Network this week, we wanna share with you what was the FIRST program to play on Cartoon Network!
This is "Droopy's Guide to the Cartoon Network"! A half-hour special hosted by Droopy Dog, explaining to the viewers how to use and what they'll find on the first 24/7 cable channel solely to animated cartoons! In-between the hosting segments, music videos, and interstitials, the special also included FOUR classic animated shorts! (*which we can't show, due to copyright laws.)
These include...
- "Rhapsody Rabbit" (1946)
- "King-Size Canary" (1947)
- "The Great Piggy Bank Robbery" (1946)
- "Wild and Woolfy" (1945)
- 0:10 - Toon Tunes
- 2:41 - Intro to "Rhapsody Rabbit"
- 3:26 - Catchphrases
- 4:40 - Know Your Toons: The Flintstones and The Jetsons
- 6:10 - "Wild and Weird" Music Video
- 7:52 - Intro to "King-Sized Canary"
- 8:58 - Know Your Toons: Daffy Duck
- 10:35 - Intro to "The Great Piggy Bank Robbery"
- 11:55 - Know Your Toons: Droopy
- 13:25 - Intro to "Wild and Woolfy"
- 14:00 - How to Use the Network

The special aired on Cartoon Network on its first day (October 1st, 1992) at 12:00 PM, before airing again the following day, along with a simulcast on TBS and TNT to cross-promote the network.
