A cringeworthy moment was captured at Caitlin Clark's first press conference with the Indiana Fever. Off camera, a reporter made Clark’s signature heart-hands gesture. “Start doing it to me and we'll get along just fine,” says Indy Star reporter Gregg Doyel. Although the audience awkwardly laughed, Clark had a bewildered expression on her face. Now, Doyel is apologizing, calling his comments clumsy and awkward.

She didn’t look bewildered at all lol. The “it” and “that” comment was rude tho.

I hope she isn’t as mentally fragile as this news story tries to make her seem

Um what? She doesn't look confused at all to me, she just looks like 'ok move along thanks'. Good lord is there nothing else going on that is newsworthy? It sounded like an awkward, nervous, random dumb statement that someone would make during an awkward segway or pause.

Omg she gave him grace because it REALLY wasn’t a big deal! Man, I feel very sorry for the future generations 🤨

He wasn't trying to be offensive, he was trying to have a good quip and it came out cringe as he stumbled, and his "That" and "It" comments sounded as though he was asking about the new additional talent they got on the team. Like getting a new weapon added to your arsenal. But nice job trying to make a story outta nothing.

I don't speak for everybody but I don't see nothing wrong

She did the right thing, why give “that” any power. “It” is unimportant.

The audience didn’t “awkwardly laugh”, sounded like a genuine laugh. She didn’t seem offended. So over the media trying to make something out of nothing at every turn.

Years ago, noone would've CRINGED and made a national news story-of-the-Day about 2 sentences he nervously uttered...they would've laughed and laughed, no apology needed. He meant it as a huge compliment actually if thought about!

"that" means he doesn't know how to classify her because she's everything awesome. It was meant to be a complement. Stop trying to be offended.

The first one was a stupid joke. Referring to "that" and "it" was sarcastic. Nothing to apologize for

This is why no one takes women sports serious. Dude literally did nothing wrong but they’re trynna twist him being nice into something creepy. This is literally how Karen’s act in the world today.

Give him a love heart gesture is bad? “THAT” refers to her Talent. “IT” refers to her potential. MADE UP problems 🤨 What’s the REAL problem? 🤷‍♂️

He was flirting - badly. Can people not flirt anymore? Right not today with all the sour lemons.
