This was the Passover feast a high occasion in Israel. Everything was put together with great care for this feast. The group had no servant to do this service to the guests and no one in the group thought of this or was willing to do it. Jesus knew no one wanted to do it, therefore He will do it and at the same time taught them the lesson of humility and love for others. He was leaving but His disciples who were to do the work in His absence were not ready in this area.

And supper being ended, …

This was NOT before the meal… since no servant was available, not one of the disciples would do the menial chore. As a lesson, after the supper ended, Jesus washed their feet showing how He came to serve and not to be served as we ALL should be living.

One version said that Jesus rose up to was the desciples feet bc none of them of almost thesame age cld not humbly wash one anothers feet how muuch the more washing every ones feet as Jesus did.
Peter sensing the shame n a proposed leader wanted to do that but it was too late.
One sweet thing SDA members shld inculcate is washing a brother u don't like or hate for a reason or not but alas we choose to wash our friends feet which do not fulfill this colture in love.
Instead of these lopsided choices the Pastor shld wash every member's feet to rescue members from the fallout or anything that will make this practice not achievavable.
