BeiDou now offers complete global coverage, that mean there is no need for GPS modules in Chinese smart phones.

China has not fully integrated itself independent from any foreign nation to map the world. A system that is a rival to the American GPS. Bei Dou project proves that with unit/hard word and discipline One China can keep soaring to its fullest potential.

Wow! I read about the BeiDou-3 System. It is like the American GPS System which is antiquated: the accuracy of the American System, for everybody but their military is plus or minus 16 feet or about 5 meters (the European Galileo Systems hi acc option is plus or minus 20 cm or about 8 inches, and the Russian GLONASS system is shaky at +- 5 Meters). But the BeiDou is accurate within milimeters which means that it could be used for cataloging warehouses, or even bookshelves. In terms of Surveillance, the American GPS would put a couple of people in the same room, but with the BeiDou system you would know whether they were standing close enough to speak. I read that China is making a lot of money through subscriptions. Wish I had it on my phone. If I lost my phone, the App on my computer could tell me which pillow on the sofa to look under.

Oh! Because of the super accuracy this BeiDou system could be use to inventory even store shelves without having to follow the shelving maps of the store, that is, if a stack of product was left in the corner then it could be inventoried to even a temporary position. This will be very important when 5G and the Robots roll out. Every Business in the World will need to subscribe to BeiDou to simplify their warehousing and inventories. Because of that China might have seriously increased its leverage in the 5G development. The West (really the U.S.) is trying to freeze China out of the International 5G standards, to make two different and incompatible types of 5G, assuming that the World will go along with the Western Version, BUT if the Western 5G won't be able to work with BeiDou then, really, what good is it. This is GREAT. China has everybody by the balls now.
