idk if it’s just me, maybe it wasn’t intended when you voiced it, but i really felt that specific moment of pain in Lorgar’s voice when he asked Guilliman “ why did you DO this?! “😢

So, i see a lot of people saying that "Lorgar was told" not to worship Big E, but there is one, tiny issue with that: he wasn't told. Indeed, for the whole century, at best he got a light admonishing for the creation of the Imperial Creed, and when the Emperor found out, it went from 0 to a 1000 really fast, and he only found out because the worship was getting in the way of the conquest. He didn't care enough about his "sons" to actually take actions to fix their issues, and he only took actions to chastise them without warning, which, surprise, set them all on the path of betrayal.
The Burning of Monarchia and the Council of Nikea were not nails in the coffins, those were outright excavators sized chunks of dirt he removed for the hole he dug himself into.

Absolutely love the irony of pre Heresy and post Heresy. The Emperor, unable to really do anything, has to watch as virtually everything that Logar was punished for comes to pass and is in fact what helps keep the Imperium alive after his fight with Horus.

i’ve always felt like The Emperor gave Lorgar exactly what he was asking/looking for on Monarchia; a god. A god wouldn’t ask you to kneel or feel bad for destroying your worldview, he’d force you to comply simply because he can. First Heretic is my favorite in the heresy series thus far!

To be fair, Lorgar did not do a 180. He genuinely did not believe the emperor would order the destruction of Monarchia. Lorgar’s ideals were wrong but what they did to that city and its inhabitants was F up, they were killed for the crime of believing a primarch, something they could not help themselves

It's funny when you think about it. At least 2 of the traitor primarchs are explicitly told not to do a thing. They keep doing it and then are surprised when Daddy gets the belt.
