6. Psychological setback: difficult to defend a match, especially a low-scoring one, for bowlers and the captain.

1. Won the toss.
2. Cloudy and rainy weather supported fast bowlers.
3. Pitch favored fast bowlers, aligning with Pakistan’s self-proclaimed status as having the most dangerous bowling lineup in the world.
4. Sun came out in the second inning – no swing.
5. Ball was coming to the bat easily during the second inning.
6. Psychological benefit: Pakistan had the lowest score to chase in an India vs. Pakistan match, thanks to the adverse conditions India faced in the first inning.
7. Easier for Babar to captain in the first inning.

Conclusion: Pakistan fans are still consoling themselves on social media, claiming that India didn’t beat Pakistan; Pakistan beat itself. Time and again, no matter what, Pakistan always tries to take all the credit, even when losing. According to them, Pakistan can’t be defeated by anyone unless they make mistakes on purpose or choose to lose. Daniyal, I follow your channel and feel your shows are very sensible. Firstly thank you for that. That said, India had such a bad phase in the 90s, until Saurav Ganguly took over. However it was not only the captain but the management changes happened within Management at grassroot. While the structure was very formidable for some time but in early 2000s the approach changed. I hope there are foundational changes in PCB for the betterment of Pakistan Cricket and cricket in the sub-continent. Surely there is a lot of talent in there but several other issues to the addressed. Hopefully there is enough pressure on the management to make courageous changes. Even if they win from here and go to next stage, there is a lot of introspection to do.

India defeat was still digestible. But Pakistan was crushed by USA two times in same match. Once in normal innings when they dragged Pak in super overs and again when both teams stood at starting point, Pak lost in super overs too. That must be thought altering for Pakistani cricket team & management! India se to haarna laga rehta h but USA se ni haarna chahiye tha at least in their first ever world cup match with Pak!
