The Black Friday I loved died in the late 90s - early 2000s. Stores opened at 12am on Friday and the sales were so great that hundreds of people were lined up outside the store in freezing weather. I know in the big cities it gets crazy but where I lived everyone was civil and had a great time.

Black Friday fun fact: The earliest known use of "Black Friday" to refer to the day after Thanksgiving occurred in the journal, Factory Management and Maintenance, for November 1951, and again in 1952. The journal referred to it as the practice of workers calling in sick on the day after Thanksgiving, in order to have a four-day weekend.
