In this session Black Dog Films director Tom Dream discussed Tom’s short film Shy Radicals and how directors can adapt original source material for the big screen.

Directed by Tom Dream, produced by Black Dog Films, and funded by the BFI Doc Society and National Lottery Fund, Shy Radicals is a portrait of Hamja Ahsan and the story behind his remarkable book and satirical manifesto, which calls for all shy, quiet, and introverted people to unify and overthrow "Extrovert-Supremacy". The film inspired a spin-off music video by Arlo Parks, directed by Tom, and screened at several BAFTA-qualifying festivals throughout 2021.

Panellists:

- Tom Dream - Director (Shy Radicals)

- Holly Wolfers - Producer (Shy Radicals)

- Laura Cairney-Keize - Editor (Shy Radicals)

Host: Alex Reeves - Editor, Little Black Book

This event was part of BFI Future Film Festival 2022, the UK’s largest festival for young, emerging filmmakers.
