Death Hole (Tubbo's Song) – one year later [Dream SMP]

the land I loved has turned into a death hole.

Where do I start...? The fact that it's been (almost) a year since my first Dream SMP song has been released, or the fact that people actually listened to the original Death Hole in the first place?

I could write an essay right now on how Dream SMP and the whole community changed my life, but I think it's evident and applicable to everyone that our lives have been changed by this Minecraft role play in a way or another. To cut it short, this type of storytelling gave me a chance to be heard.

To @kanayaa, who vouched for Death Hole even before it got released. Thank you so much for your support in the first place.

To Prime Bliss Records for giving me a home when I was just starting out: thanks for being proud of me. I'll work with you guys again soon.

And to you, all of you, who stuck with me and my music for the whole year (or even more): I didn't know we've come this far. But the thing I know is we're going to go further. New music next month :)

"I was just a normal boy who longed to live in peace."

Tubbo just wanted to live in peace. To not be dragged into any wars. Any conflict.

"Built my house along the highway, was obsessed with bees."

His house was built along the prime path (or near it, I think). He had many bees as pets. It was considered an obsession.

"Known to be a sidekick they think I'm a pushover."

He was known to follow his friends. He was seen as a sidekick to a few of them. Everyone thought he was just a yes man because of that.

"But kindness was my only strength in a land so full of anger."

Tubbo used kindness instead of weapons. He used words and didn't want to fight.

"When my friends and I fought for freedom."

Eventually, Tubbo was dragged into conflict by his best friend, Tommy. Tommy was at war with Dream, who had stolen something of his. Tubbo, being himself, agreed to fight alongside L'manburg. For freedom.

"Arrows from the sky and bombs beneath my feet, oh."

Arrows flew from above. They rained down on L'manburg. Bombs were planted below them, which were set to explode. Dream wouldn't give up easily.

"In the final night, I was led to my demise."

Eret, who was also fighting for L'manburg, brought them to the final control room. They trusted him. He hit the button, summoning Dream, Punz, George, and Sapnap. He betrayed them.

"Trust a comrade fell into my death hole."

They all were killed. All of them lost their first lives. Tubbo fell into his first death hole. (Can I just add that in All Hail The King, you refer to Eret's friends as comrades, and I like how that is also here)

"Free at last, I'm homeless though."

Finally, Tubbo was free. He may be homeless, but at least he's free.

"I finally live in peace."

He finally has what he wants. Peace.

"A nation was born inside the walls I always see."

L'manburg was growing. Tubbo may be part of it, but he didn't necessarily want to be part of any more war.

"My friends have skirmishes but I'm just living life much quieter."

Wilbur wanted to hold an election for L'manburg, so he could gain power. Tommy knew that they could lose, and didn't want to lose the power they already had. Tubbo didn't want anything to do with the arguing.

"I've been called a fool so much for being the humbler one."

Tubbo was called a fool by many. He simply believed it was easier to talk than to fight.

"When my friends this time fought for power."

Wilbur and Tommy fought for their leadership against Schlatt, Quackity (George was sleeping), and Fundy (+ Niki).
(Also, notice how instead of saying "My friends and I" it says "My friends this time" meaning Tubbo wasn't apart of it.)

"Two of them were thrown away from this land, oh."

Wilbur and Tommy lost and Jschlatt became president of Manburg. His first decree was to throw both Wilbur and Tommy away from the land. They were exiled.

"Eyes for enemy sides, thought I was far from my demise."

Tubbo was told to spy on Jschlatt by Wilbur. He didn't do it for himself, only for his friends. He believed he was safe this time.

"Can't believe was I adorned was my death hole."

Tubbo was shot by Technoblade, a man who he thought was on his side.

"I can hear my best friend shout my name."

Tommy called out for Tubbo as he was shot to death.

"The distance cannot be escaped."

He would never be able to forget the flashes of light. The colour.

"Was assured of safety."

Eret promised they'd be safe by following him. He led them to a death trap. Then Technoblade promised he was on their side. He excused his actions by saying he was peer pressured. Tubbo was led to another death trap.

"Turns out that he'd betray me."

They both betrayed him, after promised he'd be safe. This was only for his friends. Little did he know, he'd be betrayed again.

"Blow up my sacred country."

The one he trusted most, Wilbur, snapped. He hit the button and exploded L'manburg, once again, which was followed by Technoblade spawning two Withers, making the damage only grow.

"Lost my home."

L'manburg was Tubbo's home. It was gone. All of it.

"I've lost control."

He couldn't remain in control of his country. He was supposed to be the leader, yet he couldn't even keep his country safe for a few hours.

"I am still a normal boy."

Tubbo was still a normal boy. Nothing could change that.

"And I just wanna live my life in peace!"

All he wanted was the peace he once had. That was before L'manburg. Before all of it. Before he was dragged into this mess.

"(When my friends and I fought for freedom)"

Memories flashed through his eyes.

"(Bombs fall from the sky and void beneath my feet, oh)"

Bombs were raining on L'manburg. It was all gone. It was unfixable.

"(In the final night)"

"I see my nation in demise"

There was a huge crater in the ground. Bombs had first exploded beneath his feet and now they were falling from the structures in the sky. All of that was tied together with the Withers.

"My life flashing before my eyes."

He was doomed to lose his final life on that day. At least the pain would be gone. The memories. Everything.

"I bid the burning tree goodbye"

Nihachu burned down the tree that symbolized hope and independance. She finalized the end of L'manburg.

"Enclothed in an obsidian sky."

The bombs were falling from what seemed to be an obsidian structure.


Then nothing.




I don't know why I wrote this, but here you go.
Tubbo was one of my favorite characters. Everything fell apart for him, all because he wanted to help his friends.
This is such a beautiful song and I love the remake of it so much. <3

PJ, this was absolutely incredible. "Death Hole" was one of the first Dream SMP songs I ever listened to. It was also one of the songs that inspired me to post music! It's crazy to think that it's already been a year since this masterpiece was released. The one year version was so awesome and nostalgic. Thank you for sharing your music with the world. I was sitting on a lesson, being exited and planning to watch things live
(I fell asleep since it was late at night. Ya know, east siberian time :') )

But this time, I'll be here, waiting for one the most nostalgic song's remaster :)

Can't believe its been a year since the festival, that means we're also nearing Wilbur's death. It's come so far.

Also how dare they make this community fear the 16th. It's like every time a month goes by the whole fandom goes "It's one day till the 16th, what's gonna happen this time?"

Okay okay, where do I even start?
Death hole was the first DSMP song I ever listened to. This was before I even knew what dsmp was, it just popped up on my Spotify one day and I had a listen. I was blown away, so I went and started doing some research on the singer. I discovered what dsmp was, read some stuff on the wiki; watched EvanMCGaming’s vids, and now I’m here. This fandom has changed me for the better, and it’s all because of this beautiful song. Tubbo is such an interesting character, and this extended version of the song is so much better than the previous. Your voice is so beautiful - when you belted are the end I almost freaking cried, it was that good. You’ve improved so much, and this has been an absolute delight.
