What is the HackRF One Portapack H2+

Показать описание
You probably know about the Flipper Zero, but what about HackRF Portapack? This device allows you to detect, decode and manipulate radio signals ranging from 1 MHz to 6 Ghz. Like Flipper Zero it can emulate key fobs, garage door openers, door bells and rf remote controls. But it an also decode ADS-B packets from airplanes, AIS packets from ships and APRS packets from radio amateurs. It can decode POCSAG pager signals, electronic metering systems, wireless tire pressure measuring signals and much more. It is an interesting tool, but not without its flaws.

It's a really interesting platform with a lot of potential. It's already one of the best portable radio tools around, and the firmware is getting better by leaps and bounds.

VERY nicely done walk thru of the features to understand the device in a overall way. Great presentation and short enough to enjoy without having the need of a cup of coffee to get thru it :)

Please do a follow up on more features where you also dig into the TX part. I would love to learn more about its TX capabilities, the output strengts and such.

Planning on getting a hackrf eventually but for now a flipper zero is best for my money. Interesting devices and will be really fun to start playing with rf.

I didn't know the Portpack project existed. I have been struggling with draining cell phones and tablets or using clunky notebooks to use the HRF outside, so thanks for posting this video which "randomly" showed up in the suggested videos list.
I found motherboard/battery/enclosure kits without the HRF for $90 on Amazon. That looks like the way to go, unless someone knows of a better option.

Great video! I've been thinking about making a Pi Zero/ RTL-SDR handheld inspector tool for a while. This is that, and then some! I'll be getting one of these for sure

Not really two products you can compare, they are build to pentest / debug completely different areas … one is a full fledge SDR the other a tool for specific areas made easy. Both tools can be used for redteaming and both should be carried not one over the other. Also for the most out of your HackRF use it with a laptop. Two very great tools, those who call Flipper Zero for a toy don’t really work in the industry that’s for sure :) A “toy” simple tool always has the biggest impact on a customer when showcasing security …

Both tools are completely different. The flippers used for IR, Ibutton, subghz, and RFID.
The hackrf, while capable of recording a signal, is a traciever designed for radios. A flipper and hackrf save files are not interchangeable that I know of. At least not out of the box.
The big brother to the Flipper is dependent on the frequency. That could be a small usb dongle for IR, a microcontroller, or an FPGA.
The big brother to the hackrf are it's individual transcievers, which each have their own solutions.

The portapack has some neat features but honestly it’s lacking in a lot of areas even with the mayhem firmware. The portapack however allows for mobile usage so developing custom firmware tools on the portapack is where it shines.
