Understanding Bitemporal Hemianopia

In this video I explain all about bitemporal hemianopia. This is a condition that you might find in patients with pituitary tumours and acromegaly when the tumour grows large enough to press on the optic chiasm. This space occupying lesion causes compression and interrupts the signals innervating the inner portion of the retina, which is responsible for sensing the visual signals from the outer portion of the visual fields.

Due to the virus, we could not go to study, and they only left us a lot of homework, which is difficult for me to understand ... but here I am and thanks to you, it is easier for me. I thank you from my heart. I don't speak English, but the translator helps lol.

This is actually heteronymous hemianopia, as opposed to the homonymous type where the visual field is lost on equal halves :)

i had skipped over the fact that it is flipped by the lens initially and i've been so confused for ages as to why its the peripheral vision lost and not the central lol

Hi, great video. Is bitemporal hemianopia the same as 'tunnel vision' or are they two separate things?
