Creating construction details in Revit can be done many ways. But is there a “right” way? Do you have “company standard” details, but they’re in CAD? Do you draw enlarged details with just lines? Are your details on based only on what you model, without any 2D geometries? Today you can learn about some best practices for importing and drawing details in Revit.

• Learn about the three types of Detailing.
• Learn about Importing your CAD Details and Cleanup.
• Learn about Detail Components.

Roman,
Thanks for checking out the video!

There are several workflows to import CAD to Revit. I prefer this particular workflow because it keeps errant cad layers, linetypes, hatch patterns, and other CAD data, out of my Revit file. I do not disagree that it does take longer and duplicates work, but that duplicate work is to allow for a clean transition between two completely different programs.

I think this is wrong approach. So much unnecessary work in Revit, that duplicate work done in Autocad. either do this in Revit or in AutoCad.
