The community has been a driving force for safety changes on an Arizona roadway. Residents in Yarnell packed a public meeting last September after a 74-year-old woman was hit and killed by a Yavapai County Sheriff's deputy while crossing the street. On Tuesday, another meeting was held by the Arizona Department of Transportation to go over the safety changes they have made and what they hope to do in the future.

So what you’re saying is I can kill someone driving double the speed limit, be put on leave for 6 months, cleared, as long as I blame the roads are designed poorly? I believe anyone else other than a sheriff would be looking at criminal charges and be in prison for the next decade or more. Any one agree?

Yeah, this area is safe. Only one death in 50 years due to the roads. The sheriffs office messes up, nothing happened to the people who did it, now force changes on the community that will clog the tiny road.
