For a dedicated switch you want one that does the EDID handshake already. The pause is because it has to negotiate with each device. Good for home use but not for live production. Get an Atem Mini if you want a dedicated switcher.

could i get this to work with my elgato stream deck and use that to switch through scences? also whats the best bang for the budget switcher?

Have you figured out the problem with a better switcher? If I hookup two DSLR's to a switcher, the remote does not switch between the 2 DSLR.s. In OBS I have to physically turn on the Live View on the cameras to view it in OBS. The problem is having 2 views, one from each camera up and viewable. When I turn one DSLR live view on, it disconnects the other. Frustrating. Just trying to record a church service with 2 cameras and on my second switcher. Setting up the camera is as in your video with one cam-link,

Can you plug the capture card into a computer, run a plug from the capture card to a usb hub and have 5+ cameras plugged into the usb hub? Will that work?
If not what would I need to do that?
