How to Fix Gradle sync failed: Could not find method kapt() in Android Studio

How to fix this error when add kotlin("kapt"):
Caused by: 'compileDebugJavaWithJavac' task (current target is 1.8) and task (current target is 17) jvm target compatibility should be set to the same Java version.

Sometimes this causes because of some syntactical errors also, i had this problem, but solved when i closed some methods (/>)
