‘a companion to mother earth’ by Thomas Grimer
Detail Design, M.Arch Year 2
‘a companion to mother earth’ challenges normative architectural practices by engaging with a reciprocally ecological design methodology, a synthesis between architecture and natural ecologies. This reconceptualised notion of architecture and nature, via organic and bio- functionalised inspired design, acts as a ‘protostratergy’ an interface between landscape and human - in dialogue. Engaged in conversation with such natural systems and ecologies, architecture can act as an active agent for interventions within the landscape, it will become embedded within the performance of phenomena which occurs, architecture can then be not just for human inhabitation, but also for mother earth herself.’
