In 1975 I joined a company that made US scales, and the older ones worked with an 80kg calculator.
One day a customer was flooded, I restarted the machine with a hair dryer, from there I said to myself that it was neither brass nor copper, it was 21 karat gold and it there were 60 grams per machine.
We threw away a huge amount of it before I saw it, but I was nevertheless able to collect some change and quite a bit for the time.
GENERAL ELECTRIC relay with north and south marked for magnetism. Bonne journée

An electrical relay made by General Electric. Does that answer the question?
God bless!

Few people know (obvious from the comments here) that ALL gold plating is "24 karat" (at least 22K+). Anything less than 22K+ won't make good electrical contact.

There are items that only have a tiny bit of gold (yes, 22K+ plating) on them, while others have a lot more (heavier plating). These 'commercial grade' relays that are made for industrial use are certainly ones that are heavier plated than most, and "gold is where you find it". You can certainly send me your "cheap gold plating"!

it is not gold on electronic pars... It is gold plating for higher efficiency electrical contacts.

Aren't those yellow bits gold plated? They could VERY WELL be worth something!
God bless!

waste of time. Only two type of metal that sticks to the magnet, Steel and Nickle. What you were trying to pry w/ a screw driver...there's no contact (the real good stuff of gold content), it's just cheap gold plating.
