La Seraphine - Renaissance Guitar - Polivios

Показать описание
La Seraphine
This most remarkable work for renaissance guitar is found in the fourth book of the composer and music publisher Guillaume de Morlaye (1510–1558) - Le Quatriesme Livre Paris (1552).
Though there is no composer ascribed to the work, it is speculated to be by the master composer and lutenist Albert de Rippe. Morlaye was a student of de Rippe and contained within the same book as La Seraphine is a Fantasia by de Rippe that employs the same alternate tuning: the lowest string, the fourth course, is tuned down a half step.
The instrument used in this performance is a 5 course renaissance guitar built according to the the surviving instrument of Belchior Dias (Lisbon, 1581). It is amazing that although the guitar enjoyed great popularity in the renaissance, most commonly with 4 courses, the only surviving instruments from the period are of the 5 course variety.
This beautiful guitar was built by the Italian luthier Barbara Ferloni.
Performed by Polivios Issariotis
