Tourists flee raging wildfires across French Riviera - BBC News

Wildfires in south-eastern France have forced the evacuation of 10,000 people overnight, officials say.
Hundreds of tourists slept on the beaches of the Côte d'Azur.

I was on that beach during the fires, we woke up at around 2:00 am to hear the sirens on the campsite we were staying at to which my grandad told all 4 of us who were sleeping in a caravan to get out, thankfully i had decided not to sleep in my tent that night. Me and my sister gotup in our pajamas and just started having a casual conversation not worrying about the fires at that point whilst packing all our essencials. My grandparents had some mats, blankets and food with them to which we proceeded to the beach. We got set up after finding a spot to set up and we just started to watch this orange glow frankly get bigger, after a while we met some friends down there who we see every year and we always come to this camsite and they were just with their 70 year old grandmother so they joined us expanding our little camp. Me and my sister started talking to our friends and we all lied down and relaxed having a litlle chat until sunrise to which the fire was still alight along with a great ploom of smoke. It was like this untill 6:00 am to which we were now allowed back on the campsite as we went back to our caravan to catch up on our sleep. I woke up and the fire had calmed down alot to which it had split into 3 sections, canadair superscoopers were tackling them. Me and my grandad went to get some bread andwhen we came back the campsite officials saidwe were not allowed back on as the camp was in lockdown so we snook through a hedge. We went down to the beach that morning to meet our friends again. Around lunch the section of fire in the middle of the other two really started to bloom up and so my grandad went to go see at what rate the fire was getting closer so he set of to a hill to have a look. 5 minutes later we got a call from my grandad telling us to pack up lunch and our essentials which were already packed due to the night prior. We went back down to the beach were on previously and were told to move again further down the beach as the smoke was coming our way. Our friends rang us up asking where we were and they found us so we had our lunch. Just at the right time the wind changed to blowing to the opposite direction which really saved us otherwise it was coming straight for us. Me my sister and our friends proceeded to have fun in the sea whilst the amazing canadair superscoopers and their pilots tackled the rest of the fire as it kept blooming up in different places. We were allowed back onto our very smokey campsite around 7:00. Overall the day was an expierience to remember. Two teens suspected of arson are now in custody
