TIMELINE - Australian Andy Ridley is the man behind the climate action Earth Hour, with which he got more than 7000 cities since 2007 to extinguish their lights. ’The fact that we were able to mobilise so many people is unique to this project. The power of communication is underestimated.’Ridley moved to Amsterdam last year for Circle Economy, an organisation dedicated to the so-called circular economy where there is no waste. ‘I have become motivated by frustration. You think something’s not possible somewhere in the system, but right there you want to change it. ‘In the circular economy there’s is enough for everyone, forever’, says Ridley. ‘Everything can be reused, and be designed as such.’
