Day Trip to Anacapa Island | Channel Islands National Park

This is unlike any other national park that we have been to so far. Channel Islands has incredibly beautiful views and lots of wildlife.

We visited Anacapa Island and were met with the many, many, many seagulls that nest on the island. This is something we were definitely not prepared for.

While we are glad to say we have been to Channel Islands and can mark it off our national parks list, our day spent on the island was an emotional roller coaster. The boat ride there was wonderful. We saw dolphins! When we got to the island, they let us know about the seagulls and their babies. The information included that the seagulls may attack you and that the death rate for the baby birds is 60% so seeing dead baby birds was highly likely. And we saw many.

We took the 1.5 miles Island Loop Trail to all the sights on the island and they were gorgeous, especially Inspiration Point. The trip to the island is worth it for the views, but just be prepared for the birds.
