How to make your 150 cc scooter start up speed faster ( Change Your Roller Weights )
( MY OEM ROLLER WEIGHT AT THE MOMENT 19G NEW ROLLER WEIGHT 10G )
this video is great for any scooter.
Remove the cover off your transmission to expose the entire drive train.
Next impact off the nut holding the variator on. ( impact driver is a must here ).
Once the nut is removed, remove the variator assembly.
The roller weights are located in the rear half of the variator under the ramp plate.
With the ramp plate removed, you can now see the roller weights.
Now is when you want to swap the weights with the new ones 6 x 10 g.
When you go to replace the variator, make sure the ramp plate is on the spline and pushed up against the toothed wheel behind the variator.
Reassemble the variator the same as it was removed then impact the nut back onto the shaft.
Any modifications you perform are done completely at your own risk and liability.

I think the part of your videos that I like the best is that you leave in the parts that are a struggle. Doing that helps me feel better when I struggle and lets me know that you're a regular person, too.

The rollers affect acceleration/top speed by momentum. Higher weight rollers take longer to spin to a higher rpm, but do not lose momentum as easy as low weight rollers due to conservation of momentum. This means lower weights accelerate faster, and higher weights accelerate slower, but higher weights carry more momentum thus more speed. This also explains why it would take more effort for the engine to start as it takes longer for those heavy rollers to build momentum. Hope this explains it to people 😁

Good video. I have a couple additions-the socket size is 8mm or you can use 5/16". To keep them bolts in the proper places, I have a piece of foam that I shove them into, in the pattern that they go into the CVT cover. The foam was packing material in a microwave box and I also use it to kneel on while working on the scooter. Just like those foam gardening pads. But you can also just shove them bolts through a piece of cardboard to keep them in order

Excellent advice!! I can not tell you how many scooters and motorcycles either broke off the bolts trying to make a longer screw or bolt that was way too long because it was the WRONG order of reassembly.

Great work and instructions, I have an Issue with my brand new 2023 Transpro 150cc that I just bought. The Bluetooth suddenly stopped turning on which is very weird for a brand new bike

That tool you kept referring to as a torque wrench is actually called an impact driver or impact gun. A torque wrench is like a socket wrench but it has number on it to manually torque down nuts and bolts. The socket size for the bolts around the cvt cover are 5/16 or 8mm. 2 longer bolts at the rear of the cvt cover. The part on the variator fan is a nut not a bolt as you kept referring to bit as. You give good information on what to do but please call things what they are.

Good job 5/16 is a 8 mm bolt you should use all metric no standard at all on your scooters not trying to tell you what to do but worked on him for over 20 years Steve from Annapolis but keep up the good work though

Okay man you are my go-to guy for scooter information. Would you ever take a 150 PowerMax Tao Tao on the highway for about 20 miles? If so, what variator weights would you use and would you richen the air-fuel mixture on the carb to help from overheating or anything? Thanks a lot man.
