Why did the Mongols invade China?

Many people don't actually ask "Why did the Mongols invade China?" proffering just to say that it did happen. They also don't differentiate between the Xi Xia Tangut Kingdom and the Jurchen Jin Dynasty, which is very important for the context of the invasion. Here's a few reasons which may have been the impetus for the attack on China, and perhaps will clear up some misunderstandings about this stage in the Mongol Empire as well.

FYI: Khaidu or Haidu or Kaidu, nowadays is written as Khaidav, but if you spell it fast it is pronounced as Khaidu. My relative has that name, it's a rare name as far as i know.

Cool videos man. If you haven't read any of Harold Lamb's work on the peoples of the steppe I do recommend it. You might not find new information and the details might be kind of skewed to be honest, but the narrative is gold. You can read his books more like novels than history books as such.

Jin jurchens were ancestors of manchus as well.. We all know. The Qing successfully invaded mongolia and ruled it for nearly 300 years..
