In this video for the Gallery of Fluid Motion we use a confocal schlieren system to visualize shock waves produced by an actuator through a trumpet bell. This allows us to model the profile of such a wave as it travels after emission. After they exit from the trumpet, we make them interact with various objects. We were able to observe reflection, transmission, attenuation, diffraction and wave-wave interaction.

I wish to make a sound reflector for use in a tuba (musical instrument) bell to simulate playing close to a wall (this seems to focus the sound as well as dispersing it more strongly).
In your video the mdf seems to have a strong sound reflection, but, in the same position using aluminium plate, would the reflection be greater?
