BLAME IT ON ME
(John Capek/Andrew Matheson)

Blame it on me
Hold up my faults for all to see
Truth is love’s first casualty,
Blame it on me

Blame it on me
It’s not the way love is supposed to be
How can you so casually,
Blame it on me

Blame it on stars,
Shining like headlights from a million cars
Strung like jewels from here to Mars,
Blame it on stars

Blame it on time,
The fugitive, the vagabond, the perfect crime
Poured like sand through your hands and mine
Blame it on time

How can you talk that way
Just turn around and walk away
Your words sting so heartlessly
So go ahead be free, blame it all on me

But one summer night
When my door is open and the moon is new
And some sad melody comes stealing through
And my heart should break in two
If my heart should break in two

I’ll blame it on you

My 92 year aunt heard this record and was swaying from side to side like a religious experience in church. Nuff said 🙏❤️🙏❤️

Bonnie deserves all the credit due a true adopted my daughter as a single parent at the age of 43, she was 3 weeks couldn't remember and lullabies, so i sang "Nick of Time" to her over and over until she stopped crying or fell used to call the song "friend of remember she called me from her first summer camp and i sang it over the phone so she could go to sleep in peace and know her mama loved you Bonnie for ALL your music!! i have followed you for 40 years!! God Bless You!!

I once served as an usher at one her stops in Knoxville Tennessee at the beautiful Tennessee Theater. She kept everyone engaged and in awe. There are not many vocalists and musicians around like Bonnie Raitt. A rare and polished jewel in the pantheon of great artists.

Hey Ms. Bonnie, this perfect song and the entire album is one of your top 3 albums of all your career.
But this is an absolute great example of what a blues tune should be - "Blame it on Me" ranks right up there with The Thrill is Gone, or Stormy Monday, or Midnight in Harlem and will certainly become a Blues Standard Song very soon as the world hears what you can do with a great set of lyrics, a killer Hammond B-3 organ backbeat and your superior slide on that Fender, and it should be on constant rotation at Sirius/XM right now.
Congratulations on one of the best albums ever recorded by anybody, blues or rock.
This album needs a Grammy today! Since the 1970's you are the Queen of the Blues!
Keep on playing and singing as we all love you and the guys playing real honest music.
Please stay safe and healthy on the road, looking forward to hear this album and more classics live, loud and clear, and up close in Tempe at the great Gammage Hall. Peace and Love.

Oh Bonnie, I love it! Your new album will touch a whole lot of people. Thank you and I Thank God for you.
I've been listening to you since 1977...this is your best work!
Soothes my soul and made my heart smile. Just found out a month ago that I'm terminally ill.
I just want to be around and watch you accept your GRAMMY for this beautiful album.

For me the music in this song is a perfect example of how restraint can really bring out the feelings...that organ is so naughty!! 😁
