The problem with this is that google photos does not support the HEIC (High Efficiency Image Format), which is the default type for iphone images. When the HEIC is converted to a JPEG format it severely compromises the quality of the image, making it look like a pic taken from a flip phone. I have an android, but now when I create a shared album in google photos and anyone with an iphone uploads pics the quality is awful. Have you experienced the same?

Just a heads up that the Google Photos app on iOS won't start backuping your media unless you open the app.

I just got the Iphone 15 and when they transferred the data, my photos which were in folders didn't transfer completely. Iphotos has 20 folders, google photos has 12 folders. Will this method work for putting all my photos together in google photos or will it double my photos? I don't want to double everything but I want to make it right.

Trevor - Maybe you can help me with this. When my wife deletes photos from my iPhone the copy of the photo on Google Photos disappears. This doesn't happen on my identical SE 3rd generation. All settings seem identical. Hope you can help.

You didn't make it the defult app for photos on the iphone, you just set it up so photos taken are backed up to google photos rather than icloud. *sigh*😫

Pictures taken with the iPhone can be taken directly to Google photo without activating the "synchronization with Icloud" option? That means they should be taken directly from the camera in Google photo
