I am surprised to see this collaboration (probably shouldn't have been). On the other hand I am not surprised at all at how well this worked. This combo has one hell of a reach. Virtuosity, novelty, erudition. It's all here.

Wild ride on the drums: unswung rudiments all the way to Chico Hamilton meets J Dilla and back. Gotta hand it to the bassist too - loving care for tone and clarity, and no lack of expression to fill that sound with.
