WINWING Ursa Minor Space (Angled for L) has a problem

Are you seeking information about a reported issue with the WINWING URSA MINOR Fighter Joystick, available in both right-hand and left-hand versions for HOSAS setups in various flight simulations and games? Watch this before you buy.

Users have noted a problem related to the damper, particularly with the left stick when used as a throttle on its Y-axis. Specifically, when the Y-axis spring is removed, the damping mechanism adjustment screw appears insufficient to maintain resistance, causing the throttle to lose its set position.

You have to remove the "Y" axis spring so you can use the left as throttle, you have to tighten the two horizontal screws for the damper arms so that it tightens it up so you can use it as a throttle and it will stay in desired position. I had to play around with it a bit but I figured it out. Now, it's an amazing throttle control.

There is a damper on it, there’s two Alan head bolts. Now it still feels kind of weak, but if the joystick is flat it shouldn’t bother too much. I’m just installing mine though, lets see how long it holds

I reached out to support as well because my stick also tip over. Their stands is crystal clear to me: Removing the spring is a unsupported modding not mentioned in the manual so they take no responsibility. Lets work together the figure out a working mod. Someone mentioned a weak or extended spring that would only add resistance the last 10% or so I guess

what about fitting a very weak spring instead of removing it? I got the left had stick and a right hand space stick as I'm a south paw,

i left the spring in mine i prefer the return to center as i fly decouple 99% of the time or use cruise control as well no need for my left stick to function like a full tcs in fact im getting ready to put a bit stronger spring in it for the resistance

BTW I have had a T1600M since 2014, and has some heavy Elite dangerous use, it still works well the twist mechanism is superior to the likes of Saitek which the springs always snap, the only issue i had was a wire coming off the potentiometer for the twist which was an easy fix and the trigger is a foil switch so doesnt last long before it breaks.

How Are you gonna move sideways with a normal throttle?

I also wanted this version. Sad that Winwing can't give a answer to this. They want us to buy first and ask questions later. Just sad for us customers

can you use this stick as a control stick?

You can adjust the screws to tighten the throttle. Make it stiffer

Its not designed to operate like this, so obviously there is a problem when you just start removing springs. In space games you want that spring IN for your left hand omnithrottle anyway, not removed.

FYI people for about 30 dollars more you can get the best HOSAS setup like this according to every single video I’ve seen. The Gladiator NXT Evo set

Was it designed to have this spring removed? Seems a bit much to blame the company for a failure AFTER we modify their kit?

Also - If we modify a stick in this way ... why not just get a throttle?

As for the TCWS - There is a feller up in Canada who will sell a bearing + carriage kit which makes it much smoother and won't need greased so often. (I think he also does the magnets on double sided tape for getting that 50% "zero" indent.) I did use this with a T16000 for some time before upgrading to something a little firmer.

My Poison is Elite and I think the Warthog combo is absolutely beautiful for space flight. I got Rudder with toe-brakes for lateral thrust and I can also use them to drive my SRV with a racing wheel. There's an analogue stick over the back just like on TCWS, this works great for vertical thrust. More than enough buttons and the flippedy toggle switches make me feel like an even more important commander than I really am.

I'm 99% sure there is a 3d print fix.

You want it to return to neutral. You're in space. You don't need to keep moving forward to avoid death. Reverse thrusters exist.

One reviewer has a problem and you make a video stating that it's true for every stick? Check the comments in Havoks video, people report that they don't have the same problem as he had.
