The most flamboyant gay friend I've ever had also dated a girl before. He said he loved her very much and not being sexually attracted to her didn't change the fact that he cared about her. Being gay doesn't mean you're repulsed by the opposite gender or you can't form meaningful connections with them. Not all forms of love have to be romantic.
