Ukrainian refugees in Scottsdale reflect on move to US

Now more than a year after the war in Ukraine began, Mariia Kyreieva and her daughters, Veronika and Polina Prusakova, still remember the haunting first days of the war. The family recalls hearing the sirens as they waited in their Kyiv home or a bomb shelter. They knew that had to move and soon were on a train headed west, looking out the window at their hometown.

Mariia didn’t work construction in the Ukraine. She worked as the Project Coordinator for some very large companies like BP. When she was at BP she was the Leader of the Network Planning Department creating a network of 1500 franchised gas stations. She has a master degree in International Business. I spent the afternoon with her on Saturday. She is brilliant.

The father stayed in Canada and IS DOING SO WELL.

8, 3 million refugees left Ukraine since feb 2022, around 6, 2 million are still abroad while more then a million returned to the country. Which country host the largest number of refugees from Ukraine, around 2, 7 million? Second is Germany with 1, 5 million refugees.
