The US Coast Guard held a press conference Monday about the Titan submersible, a small craft that has gone missing on its way to the wreckage of the Titanic. Agencies are searching both above and below the Ocean surface for the craft which has been missing since Sunday and communicates only via text message. The Coast Guard says the vessel has between 70 and 96 hours of oxygen on board for the crew of five which include the CEO of the submersible operator and billionare explorer Hamish Harding. Pay big money to be bolted into a death trap for no good reason whatsoever. Like my grandfather used to say "some folks have more dollars than cents (sense)."

Hopefully they are found safe and sound and we get a movie about this starring Mark Wahlberg

Poor things. This is terrifying. I pray they are found. I can only imagine how they must feel and their families.

13, 000 feet of water 😮. Too deep I’ll get anxiety attack

LOST sub imploded. The pressure at that depth is literally THREE TONS per square inch. It takes over 2½ hours to free fall from the surface to the ocean down to the Titanic wreck at 12, 500 ft. And then, the same amount of time ascending to the surface, .the temperature at the bottom is around 29°F, ...practically a five-hour round trip commute in a frozen elevator.

I wonder how long panicking passengers are able to conserve that oxygen and not breath like they are running a marathon

At 13, 000 feet, the water pressure is 6500 psi.

That's more than twice the pressure in a scuba tank, any leak would be instant death.

Also, not even a US Navy SSN can reach that depth, let alone perform a rescue.

It’s disgusting to say “they deserved it”. But I think it is also disrespectful to turn what is essentially a mass grave into a tourist attraction. On the other hand, it’s also a historic site and on land lots of people visit places that are similar in that sense.

I don’t think that it is a tourist attraction for people that passed. I think that it is huge part of history and it is a way to remember the perished and the survivors.

Man these ppl and there families are worried sick. You might want to not judge these ppl. I mean come on. They're saying they had it coming almost. That they're wrong for going.

Being stuck under a submersible must suck, I wouldn't wish it on anyone, and the disaster of the RMS Titanic was something that happened to 1, 500 people that I also wouldn't wish on anyone.

But that lady couldn't be more right, please just leave it alone. The fact that "People have been going down there since 85" shouldnt make a difference to the fact that it's just plain wrong to make a 880 foot long iron hull which drowned hundreds of poor souls a tourist attraction.

Who cares who and why people go down to visit, bottom line is, leave it alone.

Update: I was simply agreeing with the news anchor.

I also never said the people in the submersible deserved that, they didn't. Yall are crazy. This is tragic.

There have been no signal from the submersible for more than 24 hours now. I'd like to be positive but it is very likely the submersible may have imploded internally due to the immense pressure at 13, 000 feet. There have been reports this new type of submersible has been "constantly plagued by mechanical errors", that do not bode well.

dude imagine the psychologial stress they are in, maybe someone already went insane and thought about how to decrease oxygen usage by taking the others out or something, horrible stuff

One horrible thing I’m thinking about is that there is a father and a son onboard. Will the father sacrifice himself for his son to breathe for longer? I don’t know.
