This has to be where Emirates is superior, their short haul routes are far more premium. With that said on an a321 I wouldn't really expect much, but from Etihad I'd expect an infotainment system

Just to correct you, the APU has to always be turned on for pneumatic air pressure to the engines, therefore it is impossible to turn on the engines first then the APU. In fact the noise that you heard was the APU being turned on to supply air pressure (and a/c to the passengers) right before push back. If you look at that long yellow tubing at 10:30, that thing provides air pressure to the plane without the need for the APU to do so (since the apu wastes fuel if it runs). It’s great knowledge to have now :)
