♦ The Villepey ponds form one of the rare coastal wetlands in the region and constitute a site of particular interest for its flora, fauna and landscapes. This protected natural area of 260 ha was formed in the Argens delta, by the ramblings of the river over the centuries and by human activities of sand extraction. Today owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral, this site is a place to preserve and discover the richness and fragility of our environment.
Each year, the city joins in the “World Wetlands Days” which traditionally take place on the first weekend of February. In partnership with the actors concerned, the Conservatoire du Littoral and associations, it offers, through the municipal service of the Environment and Sustainable Development, various activities allowing the public to discover the richness of the biodiversity of the ponds of Villepey: workshops, conferences, exhibitions, etc.
