S. Korea's education minister tenders resignation over controversial policy proposals

South Korea's Education Minister tendered her resignation... just a month after taking office.
The announcement was made Monday afternoon at an emergency press briefing.
If President Yoon accepts her resignation, Park Sun-ae... will be the first minister to resign under this administration.
There's been a backlash against her among teachers and parents... over a proposal to have kids start elementary school at age five instead of six.
Park was also under pressure to quit over a plan to abolish foreign language high schools.
Critics said the proposals were hasty and did not take into account public opinion.
The minister said she takes responsibility for causing controversy,... and wishes the children a brighter future.
