Atlantic Salmon jumping, Pabineau Falls, Nepisiguit River
The annual fall run for the Atlantic Salmon is in full swing.
These amazing fish are born in the freshwater, spend approx. 3 years as fingerling, parr and smolt stages of life.
They then depart the rivers and head to the North Atlantic, returning after 2 years as Grilse. At this time, they feed and grow quickly and return to the exact river they were born to spawn.
Atlantic Salmon do not die after spawning and can return to the rivers multiple times over their lives to spawn.
