The main runway at the Gatwick-Intl Airport (EGKK) was shut for 50 minutes due to an issue with the Boeing 777-200 (G-VIIT) 'hot brakes' on the affected as the plane did a high-speed take-off abort on the Runway 26L while operating flight BA2279 to Vancouver.
Gatwick Airport said in a statement that 16 inbound flights were diverted and a further 23 were cancelled due to the knock-on effects of the incident.
