I don't know why Timberwolves fans would bother getting excited for a second-year player who can't really shoot and who plays too much defense when they could get excited for a second-year player who is looking like a pretty good shooter and who maybe plays defense but definitely looks like he could be a good defender (DownToBuck does not care about defense for the record). In case you're slow, I'm talking about Josh Okogie and Keita Bates-Diop here.
Okogie was one of five players last season to attempt 200 or more threes while shooting sub-30% on them. His 27.9% was better than Giannis' 25.6% and Trey Lyles' 25.5% (I didn't realize he was that bad LMAO [loving my amused orations]), but it was worse than every other qualifying three-point shooter, of which there were 163 total. I would find myself unable to get hyped for such a player if there was another similarly-aged player on the roster who had a demonstrated ability to be totally wet from deep.

KBD's blistering 46% shooting from three is unlikely to hold up for the whole season, but I've said that before only to be proven wrong. If I do end up being proven wrong, it will be because KBD displaced Robert Covington in the starting lineup and led the Timberwolves to the sixth seed. That's an outcome that every Wolves fan should be rooting for. Just forget about Josh Okogie.
