Bob Dylan & Joan Baez - Lost Highway (Savoy Hotel 1965 RARE)

Only two more tracks to upload until the entire legendary Savoy Hotel jam session will be on the internet for the first time! The other tracks can be found under my playlist "Savoy Hotel, UK 1965."

This was taped on May 4, 1965 for the documentary film Don't Look Back (you can hear the ticking of the film camera in the background). Part of this track can be seen live in the film, but if you've ever wondered how the whole song sounded, here it is.

These recordings were only released in 5,000 copies, which is, in my opinion, cruel of Sony/Columbia. Thankfully, I can upload them to YouTube until they get taken down.

FUN FACT: the photograph above was taken a day after these recordings, in the courtyard of the Savoy Hotel.

Enjoy this gem while you can!

These films at the Savoy are just as wonderful as can be. Watching them work out these gorgeous harmonies is so exciting. I like to watch Ms Baez look down at the floor as she concentrates. I'll never get tired of this room at the Savoy Hotel. All students of voice ..melody and harmony should see this . ..they'd learn a lot.

I saw a comment Bob made when he was asked about being the best songwriter of the 20th you know how he is, he blew it off and said Hank Williams was the greatest songwriter of the 20th Century.

Great quality. I'd love to see the actual video of "Let me die in my footsteps" when he was in the hotel room. One of the few pieces of footage cannot seem to locate.

Been listening to Chronicles again lately, he said that Hank was the modern prototype for a song, for songwriting. I think at least it was something like that, Hank made the 'modern' song.

Ist das eine feststehende Redewendung? Oder was hat David Lynch's Film hiermit zu tun?!
