After driving Ioniq 5, EV 6, and gasoline powered Hyundai cars, I can see why the sales for Ioniq 5 is going up. It is a terrific vehicle.

I picked up my Ioniq 5 three days ago. It brilliant!
I have to shop around as most Hyundai dealer were quoting me January to March of next year for delivery!

The base model Ioniq 5 costs 45k Swiss franks here in Switzerland, 42k USD or so should be realistic. Hyundai and Kia also have problems delivering ICE cars here because of all kinds of parts shortages. They obviously sell the EVs they can make here in Europe. They would be silly to ship them to the US.

Got an email today from Hyundai because I had signed up for the ioniq 5 here in Australia. It indicates the will be less than 400 here in Australia initially

Ioniq 5 pre-orders in Australia on Oct 12, but only 400 vehicles.

I drove the ioniq 5 last month here in Belgium and it is a nice car but they only had the basic one rwd and like no options, the higher trim levels will arrive next month together with the Kia ev6. But I am more excited for Byd han, xpeng p7 and my favorite the Zeekr 001. Would even consider the Hiphi x so if none of those Chinese cars would come I would settle for ioniq 5 or ev6.

Hyundai management need to see the success of the Ioniq 5 and EV6 as a huge wake up call. They need to ramp up way faster to go fully EV. Ambition of 1 million in 2025 (which was already ramped up from previous plans) is way too low.

They can't make enough 5s for even Korea because of parts shortages.

Texas, Florida and Arizona are the opposite of zero emission states.

I can't understand why they don't learn. Both Kia and Hyundai had problems with sufficient volume on previous EV models as well. I hope they are in the process of building up production in Europe and USA to meet the demand.

New plants for batteries and even cars are needed in the US and planned.

I just saw my first Ioniq 5 at the Montreal EV show, today. I want one and as everything I want, it is not available. For two years here in Canada and still we have no price yet …☹️

I hope all the EV companies start pumping the cars out soon, this production lag is a drag. 😜

I just received an invite to the the IONIQ 5 early access event on Tuesday 12th October. If I place my order I will be one of 400 early owners of the Ioniq 5

Not able to get in certain states, when available. I ordered a Tesla model Y, not able to wait for the competition. Way too slow to market. Willing to spend the extra money, because Tesla will survive any down turn. The competition loses money on EV sales, I believe Tesla is got the highest profit margins by far including in the entire auto industry.

Well, I hope that Hyundai recovers from whatever problem they are having, but certainly, those numbers are for me kind of worrying. In a different topic, I would love to hear your invaluable opinion of what is going on with GM and the Bolt. GM recalled so far about 140, 000 thousand Bolts due to Fire risk due apparently to a production defect on the LG Chem batteries, right now 12 fires in less that 6 months, and at night while charging inside garages. And a buddy of mine who bought a Bolt in 2020 just got his Bolt purchased by GM, and now is ordering a Tesla M3. Recalls are expensive, GM is bleeding money, and had stop Bolt production until they get defect-free batteries to exchange or to built more EVs. Could that accelerate GM demise as car maker? GM has nothing else to offer except for ICE units. Which are your thoughts about that? Thanks

India- too poor to buy many vehicles - e-bikes and e-scooter, e-motorbikes and tiny/cheap <$8, 000 may work.
NOT EU & US markets. Hyundai way too many models/drive trains/transmissions/options in gerneral. reminder VOLUME is the name of the game for lowest cost & lowest selling prices.

Hyundai don’t know how they are going to transition away from dealerships.
They aren’t genuinely enthusiastic about the future reality.

Is it a disaster that the I5 not going to USA, a country that is not a serious player in EV compared to Europe and Asia. An interesting topics would be what are the predicated production capabilities of EV manufacturers, in a growing market like sales are history, what is really interesting is the future capacity.
