Coprophagy & Cecotropes The act of eating poop is called coprophagy. A chinchilla produces normal poops of digested food, but they also produce poops called cecotropes that contain undigested nutrients and vitamins. A chin will eat cecotropes to fully digest these nutrients which their body needs. So, It is perfectly normal.
