That's hands down THE most love snes doom ever got.

It was my job to redo and simplify every single level so they’d be small enough to fit on the cartridge

Fun Fact: The SNES version of Doom was also playable online for deathmatches and co-op!

I forgot it was a red cartridge, so many memories rushing back

"I forgot how much this version of Doom sucks."

I'm in the credits, although Randy Linden is the genius who made the game possible.

In 1995, it was very expensive to buy a PC. My first computer was a barebones 486-33 Mhz, costing $1, 200. So, for many people, this was an affordable version of Doom.

People keep saying that "tHiS vErSiOn oF dOoM sUcKz" but they took something that could barely run on a high end 386 and even some 486s struggled a bit with it, and got it to run on a 16 bit console with limited ram. Even with the Super FX chip, this was a very tall order. This was much harder to convert to the SNES than "Wolfenstein 3d" which used a much simpler engine and could run on a 286/AT class PC.

Also, this version had the best MIDI type soundtrack for it's time. Sounded much better than a non wavetable soundcard like a Sound Blaster 16 which most PCs had back then.

The guts of that cart look *pristine* compared to the outside. Even spotless-looking carts are usually in much rougher condition

Tbh that old label gave it character 😂

I absolutely love that the screws were dipped in rubbing alcohol. Never doubt yourself again.

The Snes carts and the console itself could endure almost any punishment and still work.

I would have kept the label. Because it looked like it went through Hell and back.

Edit:
Damn y'all are some nerds. More rip and tearing please.

You wouldn't correct Doom Guy would you? 😅

blowing on it would have had the same effect

The timing of the music, having the little solo bits during fastforwarded parts, it all just fits perfectly.

I can't be the only one, who thought for a sec that he was gonna dump the entire cartridge, board and all into the water.

All things considered, the SNES handled Doom like a champ. I bought it and Final Fantasy 3 at Wal-Mart for $69.99 each back in 1995 when I was 12 with my mowing lawns money. An OUTRAGEOUS expenditure at the time, to be sure.

I love how the fast guitar licks matched with the vigorous scrubbing off of the logo lmao
