Dr Hakwan Lau directs the Laboratory for Consciousness at the Riken Institute in Japan and his cognitive neuroscience research group studies the brain mechanisms for visual perception, attention, and metacognition. In this talk, Hakwan explains his team's research on new methods to investigate the nature of consciousness and subjective experience, the inner workings and nature of the mind, to better understand how to treat it. He shares findings from a recent study investigating how to treat fears and phobias.
