When they realize that people on keto and IF will not be diabetic, obese anymore, who will buy the crap pills, they come up with some bs 😂

Im a 42 yr old heart patient (2 yrs post double bypass) - I’ve used intermittent fasting 16:8 for the last 18 months and feel fantastic. I eat healthy and workout daily… My cardiologist says I’m a prime example of good health now.

The American Heart Association gets a lot of funding from pharmaceuticals. In 2017 they changed the blood pressure requirements to make 120-129 Elevated. 130-139 High Blood Pressure. That is nuts and only benefits the pharmaceutical companies. That same year the president of the AHA got a heart attack. This press release by the AHA is outrageous.

Why is CBS reporting on this when it's not a published study or peer-reviewed? I've been having bad GI issues and intermittent fasting was suggested by my doctor as a way to give my digestive system a break.

The AHA is funded by big pharma who's afraid that intermittent fasting will become more popular. If it does, hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol rates will decrease, along with prescribed medications for those conditions, along with big pharma profits.

The Healthcare system in our country is deplorable.

IF works. It helped me bring my A1C down to 5.9 from 7.8 without metformin. Plus I lost 30lbs.

I lost 18 kilos in 7 months. 16/8 hr fasting. Bp came down to 120 from 135-140 . Feels more energetic. Don’t know how it adversely effects your heart

I don't do intermittent fasting because I want to stay healthy or lose weight. I do it because modern food is terrible and I want to minimize the amount of times I have to ingest that garbage on a daily basis.

This story is just a bunch of food producers freaking out because they're going to lose sales so they get their trusty EXPERTS™ to come up with a scare campaign to counter it.

Intermittent fasting, if done consistently, it contributes to reducing the risk of Cancer ♋️

I'm skeptical of this story. The US has so many food manufacturer's associations and they pay a lot of money to keep their products selling. There are many books with documented facts on how the various associations attack studies on lifestyle and eating 'clean.' The majority of docs recommending Intermittent Fasting also include avoiding processed food. Although I'm not such a doc, red flags came up when I listened.
When studies come out about health issues associated with eating processed foods or health benefits from not eating processed foods, these associations will muddy the scientific waters by creating bogus studies (using questionable variables, study parameter's, etc) that give opposite outcomes to the bonafide studies. In other words they are using the same playbook as the tobacco industry used for decades; remember that the tobacco industry even had MDs recommend patients take up smoking to treat various health issues for several decades. BTW, these food industry associations also have lobbyists to influence government agencies and congressmen and women.

At least this lady calls out this nonsense.

It's not just WHEN you eat but WHAT you eat. People who don't control their carbohydrate/fat combinations will gorge themselves & shoot their triglycerides sky high during that 8 hours. A keto diet & intermittent fasting is the best combination (speaking from personal experience)

ok I do OMAD 24 our fasting and its great, no sugars or carbs from bread or flower or corn. no soybeans. no plastic foods. I eat like one 500grams broccoli 2 eggs plenty of mushrooms :) use plain butter, full milk, lean meat. plenty of vegetables and chicken stock :) after a few weeks you get used to healthy food and eating once a day without feeling hungry.

Holy moly, a news anchor refusing to go along with the hype of a non-peer-reviewed study? Sounds like might have even done a critical read of the study herself!!

Food is nutrition, we need to focus on that again, it’s not eatertainment.
