My view of which songs were plagiarized: all of the songs for which I was able to correctly guess the second song after hearing the first one.

Im i real pain for everyone in my family cause everytime were in the car listening to the radio i keep finding similarities in modern songs to old ones. My wife cant stand it but i truly think the music industry doesnt care anymore.

i was so shocked when i first heard "Clocks" on the radio, a few months after i had finished a track i made in an old tracker software.. i was like: "whaaaa' ?? wait a minute, who's playing my track? why? how?".
unfortunately i never released that track, so i cannot claim any legal rights on it, but the melody line is 90-95% identical, it's just that i've been using synth samples, it was on a faster tempo, and a different genre.
pretty much the same thing happened with Cassablanca (by Jessica Jay) - i had those notes on my music score notebook at least a couple of years before i heard her song on the radio. that's why i gave up on professional music production. the path is getting too narrow.
i mean.. how is that even possible?

The only ones I might question for plagiarism are some of the older rock songs. Most modern music has the same producers and while most people think it's all about the song writers, the producers play a huge role in the sound of the music. Two different producers can make the same song sound vastly different. Most producers today are on tight time schedules so they tend to use a lot of production loops, especially in pop and dance music. They simply may change the key or tempo and since there are only a certain number of chord progressions and music genres tend to lean either major or minor for that particular genre, we will hear a lot of similarities. Some of it could be plagiarism for sure but usually when this happens we hear about it.

7:17 is actually not the original version. The original track was recorded by Carlos Lyra in 1964 and is named "Maria Moita".

Using a sample from the original is not plagiarism. Most of the time they give credit to the original author. For example the first one, that's not plagiarism, that's taking literally the same song sample. Or the one with Girlfriend from Avril Lavigne is obviously just a remix/spinoff to the original.

Alot of these feel like plagiarism. Especially the ones where the song made pre 2000 like those feel like plagiarism but the kinks and the doors seem like plagiarism to since like a 4 year gap

Well there is a fine line between pladurism and sampling I do believe if the loops was used in two songs its not quite sampling but I'd like was intentional and uncredited will be considered pladurism

What I find funny about plagiarism is that the offended part only take notice if the other song is successful.

I don’t see how any of this is plagiarism. Music contains so many of the same chord progressions.

Woh I like Summer of 69 and love Jesus of Suburbia but I never realized that these parts were quite similar! Not similar enough to be plagiarism in my opinion, but there must have been some inspiration
