Nintendo's E3 2018 Direct (and in fact 2018 as a whole) has left a good number of fans wanting more. Let's talk about expectations versus reality when it comes to Nintendo.

The lesson is don’t harass real people on Twitter about certain characters not being in the game

Nintendo has been effectively placing less and less importance on e3. They can draw comparable online presence with their directs, so they've been changing their strategy so that e3 is not the end all be all. They focused on on Zelda in 2016, they focused on Mario in 2017 (they said they only showed a little more than usual in 2017 due to the new hardware), and they focused on Smash in 2018. Sales wise- it is working out well for them. Nintendo is doing fine. They know to spread out their announcements to maintain hype throughout the year. That's the way I like it.

I’ll save you all about 11 minutes. Arlo is sad that Pikmin 4 isn’t revealed yet. Bam.

If you felt down about this Nintendo e3, just think about that poor Nintendo fan who doesn't like Smash Bros, that's the person who had it roughest.

Nintendo didn't announce Metroid Prime Federation Force 2 or Mario Teaches Typing remastered. Worst presentation hands down.

How is WALUIGI the most talked about thing to come from Nintendo's E3 Direct? Not Ridley finally making the Smash roster, not Mario Party going back to basics, it was Waluigi not being on the roster. I guess everyone just likes to go WAAAAH!

Unrelated Question. What do puppets eat?

I'm guessing Yarn... They can slurp it up like spaghetti.

5:15 "Because of this, I wasn't expecting much from the Direct, personally... We got pretty much exactly what I expected." I actually went back and rewatched Arlo's predictions because I thought I was missing something but... no? He predicted new/ported Mario Maker, Mario Odyssey DLC, new Animal Crossing, the Star Fox racing game, Pikmin 4- honestly, he was wrong about almost everything, and those were specifically predictions, not wishes. Like I'm not criticizing him for that, but I really don't understand this shift in tone to "I knew it all along, just as I thought!"

i've already come into terms with e3, i'm just pretty bummed that people are taking waluigi's exclusion from the roster way too seriously. We finally have the one character we've been begging for for _years_ and instead of celebrating we focus on who else we don't have. It's 65 characters in a single fighting game, all with very distinct designs and move sets. What more could you want?

where the heck is Switch Music though
Wii Music has clearly been in need of a sequel after the masterpiece, being the first game to ever get a 100 on Metacritic
It’s obviously the most needed Switch game, and something everyone in the Wii Music fan base has desperately wanted

I feel like Arlo's point about there "Not being any big switch games every month" is a bit skewed. If you look at the lineup of first-party Nintendo games, there's still something big coming every single month (August is debatable).
June - Mario Tennis
July - Octopath Traveler
August - Monster Hunter/ Overcooked 2
September - Xenoblade 2: Torna
October - Super Mario Party
November - Pokemon Lets Go
December - Smash bros

Instead it just looks like a lot of games Arlo isn't interested in, which is fine not every Nintendo game appeals to everyone, but I feel like saying NOTHING is coming out this year is a bit of a low blow...

Arlo, this one was great. Editing was on point! Thanks Farfetch'd Studios! I get most of my game news and updates from a blue monster and I'm not upset by that. Keep it up dude

I get your point of view, I totally understand it, but I would like to point something out:

If you look at releases ASIDE from First Party Nintendo, there's quite a bit of stuff you can look forward to. Crash Bandicoot, Dragonball FighterZ, SNK Heroines, Sonic Mania Plus, Overcooked 2, Okami HD, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, Valkyria Chronicles 4, Megaman 11, Disgaea 1 Complete, and so much more. And that's ONLY up until early October.

That's a LOT of games. Nintendo isn't just filling in their own year anymore with titles, they're embracing third parties and letting those fill up some of the slots. Because why wouldn't they? These all seem like amazing titles, and I'm sure even you will find something in here that you're interested in. While I personally have the Nintendo system for the exclusives over other systems, that doesn't mean that shared releases don't interest me. There's some reeeally cool stuff in here. And I'm sure I don't just speak for myself here.

I know you're not much of a Fire Emblem fan yourself, but i do believe you're downplaying the potential Fire Emblem 16 has for the first half of next year. The series has had amazing sales ever since Awakening and it doesn't show signs of stopping with as grand as a console as the Switch is.
