Yeah, very Northern Minnesota, walked out instant freezing. Came back out layered like deep winter months. I thought something was odd plus it snowed for 2 days.

It's 22 degrees this morning in the Ozarks. Saturday it is supposed to be in the 80s for several days. Thank goodness for modern weather forecasting. We were able to cover the fall garden with straw and tarps ahead of this weather. I put a temperature sensor at the edges and middle part of the garden. The straw and tarps kept the temperatures above 40 degrees at ground level. Perfect for the beets, turnips, radishes, scallions, broccoli, kale, and collard greens. The ground temperature doesn't freeze until we have several weeks of 20 degree temps. This climate change phenomenon is a challenge. The temperature indicates it's time to put the garlic in, but I think it's way too early. Every planting is now an experiment.

California’s weather is crazy right now, we are getting 3 days of extremely hot weather (88-95*) in the Coast only for it to drop to the lower 60’s over the weekend

Edit: Temperature is consistently in the mid to high 70* where I live in SoCal during October in the coast, which we have been having since the start of October.
We had thunderstorms last week, low 70’s. Normal. So to get 3 days of above average heat and then for the weather to flip to mid 60’s is crazier than normal (for my area)

It's not unusual to have an early or cold winter when there was a hot summer. An early snow in the latter half of October is not that unusual in the Great Lakes region or the upper Midwest, it usually melts off in a day or two and is followed by what we've always called "Indian Summer'. Where I live, we already had a heavy frost last week.
We see an early snow about once or twice a decade although it's usually the last week of October or the first half of November.
What should be concering everyone is the effect this is going to have on the harvest, which is going on right now. There are going to be global food shortages this year and we need all the calories available that can be had to offset the low yeilds in the West and Southwest that experienced extensive droughts this year, and all the countires in Europe that experienced a extended heat wave. Yeilds are down 25% in Spain, Italy and parts of France. Hungary is reporting yeilds down 50% and Ukraine has not been able to bring in crops from it's most productive areas because of the disruptions caused by the invasion. Even the UK and Germany are reporting yeilds that are down around 15%. Pakistan lost almost their entire crop to flooding.
Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Haiti are already experiencing major food shortages. Cuba as well as a dozen countries in Africa and the Middle East are not far behind.
What is going to be going on on in the parts of the world that couldn't get fertilizer for planting this season I don't even want to think about.

Don't worry. I hear heating costs will be super cheap this year.

That is something new, everyone else is getting snow before NY. We still don't have snow yet but the chills started coming late evenings and disappears late mornings.

This happens every so often here on the Canadian Prairies. This Fall is very warm for Saskatchewan, no snow yet. My city has been putting our power lines underground lately to ensure no one losses power from a downed line. Not sure why America doesn’t do the same for its cold regions.

It wasn't supposed to be this way. When something is not natural It's because it's supernatural.

Never so early? Not in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan . My bother was born in a blizzard on October 15 th. No big deal. Always snow in October and I’m in my 60’s. You were in Negaunee. Used to live there. Grew up in Ironwood. When the Lake freezes over, that’s when it’s miserable. Below zero seems forever. One year -18 felt warm 😂. So it goes. Thanks for stopping by!
