Add the 741 points Maravich scored as a freshman = 4408 points.. Pete still has the record.. sorry people it’s just a fact

The fact that Pete's record stood for more than 50 years is simply phenomenal. Caitlin is an amazing player, and she deserves her roses. But Pistol Pete is a legend. Perhaps one day Caitlin Clark will be as well. She certainly has the gifts to reach legendary status. Best of luck to her!

Why is everybody got to put a negative spin on her record. There have been many men who haven't beat his record in the same ERA with the 3-pointer so give the girl her props

People be hating on Caitlin for no reason. When you’re on that level, you’ll always have haters. Lebron knows all about that.

In most sports when a player reaches a milestone, or does something significant the opposing teams players show sportsmanship and acknowledge the achievement. The Ohio State bench keeping it classy.

There they go again... Focused on another individual stat . all Iowa cares about is eclipsing some record... Meanwhile my Lady Gamecocks 29-0, teamwork makes the dream work...

I love Caitlin and her detractors are ridiculous. But to say that she "beat" Pistol Pete's record is the epitome of comparing apples and oranges. Pete's average per game was over 44 points over a 4 year period, and while he drilled a whole lot of buckets from 3 point range, there was no 3 point line and they all counted for 2 points. But hey, Caitlin has had more assists than Pete, so who knows how they would compare to each other. Apparently one of Pete's coaches went back and looked at all his points and calculated that if there was a 3point line, Pete would have averaged 55 points in college. Is that true? Who knows.

Great player! But Pistol Pete played 1 year less and there was no 3 point shot during his 3 years?? Huge difference.

Maravich's total of 3, 667, amassed in just 83 games over three seasons at LSU (1967-70).7

Congrats to Caitlin. Shame that the softest technical foul call is a smudge on her achievement.

Clark walked right toward her? If I was the referee I’d call a tech on Iowa #22 for unsportsmanlike conduct

There will be more than slight bumps in the WNBA. Clark will be getting knocked off her feet, and often. Pistol Pete's record stands as it was done in 3 years. Clark is still a heck of a player.

All this fighting about the validity of a record. One side says 3 years, no 3 point or shot clock. Other side says she took less shots and he played in a segregated league. Different genders, generations and rules make the comparison irrelevant.
It is still a great accomplishment and hopefully she can elevate the WNBA so they can hopefully turn a profit one day.

Maybe said here before but the technical called on this play should raise all sorts of conspiracies in this day and age. Clark walks into somebody for no reason and flops, the refs review and still call the technical, Clark passes Pete on the free throws, with .03 on the clock Iowa inbounds and hits a catch and shoot, they pan to break and Nike is running an add congratulating Clark on passing Pete. I am sure they had the commercial Queued for the next break after the record but the halftime promo seconds after was a marketing coup that had to be coordinated with the Big Ten and Clark herself.

She spray broke the record few games ago. Can’t compare this at all to Pete Maravich record that still holds! Two different records.
